Refined Holistic Education

Our school emphasizes students’ development in intellect, morality, and other abilities, and we are dedicated to cultivating their vision, respectful attitude and passion for lifelong learning. We have proficient staff, who are committed to their teaching with expertise and enthusiasm; we have hard-working students, who always show their keen interest in knowledge. All these create an inspiring atmosphere in which the students are eager to learn different subjects, experience life and participate in extra-curricular activities, sports events and art performances. We believe this will help every student become a person of vision, culture and versatility.

Green Spirit for Prominence

Our school is prestigious on this island called Formosa. It is known internationally for its fine tradition and its teaching staff with rich experience and enthusiasm. Based on the sound foundation, we aim to provide students with an ideal environment for learning and growing up. On this campus nicknamed “Green Garden,” teachers and students love each other and encourage each other, following the spirit of tiny grass that strives for life with no fear for strong wind and heavy. We hope after a loving three-year-life in “Green Garden,” every “Tiny Grass” will grow into a tall tree that would stand firm even in hardships. And we believe the “Green Garden” will prosper year by year, with the care from everyone living in it. Students in Taipei First Girls’ High School call the campus “Green Garden;” they name themselves “Tiny Grass.”

Marching Band and Honor Guards

Taipei First Girl High School prides itself with a team of glorious tradition. This well-known team includes the marching band (established in 1959), the honor guards (established in 1963) and the color guards (established in 1998). The members are students with outstanding academic achievements and excellent conduct. They have won the first prize in the wind music competition for senior and vocational high schools in Taiwan, R.O.C. In July 1970, the team was selected to participate in the inauguration of the Chinese Day at the Universal Expo in Japan on behalf of the Republic of China. In July 1977, they were invited by the Asian Baseball Association to perform at the opening and closing ceremony of the Senior and Junior Leagues’ Far Eastern competition. The team visited the U.S.A. and Singapore in 1981; South Africa in 1986 for the centenary of Johannesburg; and Beijing, Nanjing and Shanghai in August, 1992. In addition to above, it was the first Taiwanese student band to visit Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s mausoleum in forty years. On New Year’s Day in 1996, they were invited to participate in the 107th Rose Bowl Parade in California, the first Chinese team to join this celebrated activity. During the summer of 1999, they were invited to perform by Edinburgh, Glasgow and London Municipal Government. The team is also often invited to present themselves before foreign visitors, on National Day and other major events. They are always much applauded and highly appreciated by both our fellow-countrymen and foreign friends. For today’s performance, beautiful music has been selected to match their excellent rifle manipulation skills and their ability to quickly shift and present a variety of formation patterns. All of these are the result of their long and rigorous training. It is a great show of warmth, passion, and the drive for beauty and excellence. It is hoped that such a display of youthful energy and joyful performance can help break down the barriers, cultural and otherwise, between these young women and young people from other countries. This is our way of extending an enthusiastic welcome to our friends
